Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 2013: #15

This week's questions:
1.Are you enjoying spring?

Yes! This way cooler-than-normal weather has been great. Today it got to 90 degrees and we've usually reached a zillion degrees by now. Some days recently, we haven't even gotten to the 70s. It is really freaky because it has been cold more than it has been hot so far. However, I know it will change. I just hope it will wait a lot longer to get hot.

2.Where would you take Patrice for her birthday, if you could spend a day together. Wendell hopes you would bring her back!

Well, it would take way longer than a day, but a trip to Ireland would be nice. Maybe I would bring her back, but maybe we'd decide we liked it too much to leave once we got there. :)

3.What's your favorite spring flower?

Like Patrice, I think that daffodils are beautiful. They are one of my favorite spring flowers, but I have many favorite flowers. Pink roses probably top the list at this point. Here is a picture of some pink roses that I took a few years ago in a local cemetery. I played with them in Photoshop to give them an aged look.

4.What do you do when you are going through a really stressful time?

What I feel like doing and what I actually do are worlds apart. What I feel like doing when I'm stressed is finding a back road and seeing how fast my car can go. What I end up doing is a whole lot of shaking and crying and scratching because stress makes me break out on my left wrist. Just there, nowhere else generally, which I think is pretty weird, but to quote my husband, "It is what it is."

5.What kind of birthday cake would you get for Patrice? And Wendell?

I love Black Forest cakes...chocolate, cherries, whipped cream. They are totally yummy! Maybe I could figure out a carrot version for Wendell. I wonder if he'd like that.  If  you're wondering who Wendell is, click the button at the top of this post and read all about him on Patrice's blog, Everyday Ruralty!

    1. Hi Beth,

Happy spring to you, too. :)

I don't know. It doesn't make any sense to me. It would make sense for it to be both, but I'm wired funny anyway!

    1. I bet they are beautiful. What kind do you have?

In the past I've had antique roses, pink ones (Belinda's Dream and Archduke Charles) and yellow ones (Graham Thomas and Stephen F. Austin). My husband ordered a blue rose for me, but the nursery used such a wonky way of delivering that it was dead by the time it got to me for Mother's Day.

    1. I think that we'd have a blast. :)

Of course, if we ate too much of the cake, we might not do too well on their back roads going to see all the pretty stuff!
