Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 2013: #1

It has been forever since I've done any blogging. My husband has been in the hospital over 50 of the last 65 days. I have missed writing as well as joining Patrice on her farmhouse porch. So, here's to jumping back into things!

This week's questions:

Do you make New Years resolutions?

No, I don't generally make New Year resolutions. There are things that I hope for, but that is as far as it goes.

What do you hope to accomplish this year?

I hope to be able to keep my husband out of the hospital, but it is a given that he will be going back. The doctor is already talking about the next surgery, once he heals up from this amputation. I hope to have our 29th wedding anniversary in a hotel rather than a hospital room like our 28th anniversary. I hope that we can recover financially. I hope that the kids continue to do well in school and I hope that the sweet things happening for one of them will continue and be right for them.

Tell me about your favorite place to think, create, or just relax.

You'll think it is weird, I'm sure. Most people do. But, the most relaxing place for me is a cemetery.

Are you a fan of old movies? (Like the ones that were originally black and white.)

Yes. David and I both enjoy classic movies. Every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas, we watch "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Miracle on 34th Street". Though we have the colorized version of the latter, I much prefer the black and white version.

Tell me something that made you happy since our last porch visit. If you're new to the chats, tell me something good that has happened to you lately.

***My husband finally got to come home from the hospital.

***My babies aced their first semester in college after being home-schooled their entire lives.

***Love is in the air.

  2. I hope your husband can come home sooner rather than later. Sometimes the Serenity Prayer is all we can pray. Do what we can and leave the rest to God. Happy that your children are doing so well in school. I'm sure they are wonderful kids!

    1. Thanks. I'm kind of partial to them. :)

David is home now and hopefully won't be back in the hospital for awhile. We're dealing with home health at this point. Maybe that won't take much longer either.

Thank you again and have a great weekend!
