Please come on over to join us on Patrice's porch and don't forget to bring a carrot or two for Wendell!

QUESTIONS

Did you do anything special for Valentine's Day?

We watched the movie Endless Love, which is the movie that we watched on our first date just over thirty years ago.

What was the last craft item that you made?

I made two scarves on the knitting loom. One was pink and one was yellow.

Are you planning a garden? Are you swamped with seed catalogs?

I would love to have a garden, but this yard is not suited for one. There are too many trees for anything on the ground to get good light. I love the trees too much to chop them down for something with so short a lifespan as a garden plant. Plus, we're either feast or famine when it comes to rain, mostly famine. Thankfully, though, we've gotten rain over the last few days.

What cosmetics do you have in your purse?

None. Although one of our means of income is selling cosmetics, due to allergies and the hot temps down here, I do not wear them.

When there is a room to be painted in your home, who does the painting?

Generally, that would be my husband. I like to paint, but can't deal with the smell. It makes it hard for me to breathe.

  1. I love trees too. I don't think I could chop them down either. Our new place has space for a garden and trees. Can't lose there.

    1. I'm glad that you've got space for both trees and a garden. That's great. :)

  2. I had problems with my garden when I lived in the country. There were so many trees (hickory mostly)the ground was too acidic to let anything grow.

    1. I'm sorry to hear that. Isn't there supposed to be a way to adjust the acidity of the soil? That part of gardening is all Greek to me. Whenever I've planted anything, it has just been with hopes that it would do what it was supposed to do because, beyond watering it and hoping for sunshine, I didn't know how to help the plants thrive.

How's it going where you live now?

  3. Our backyard is full of trees. I like them, but the yard doesn't get enough sunlight because of the foliage and the grass doesn't grow well back there. In my dream house one day, I would like for lots of trees to be along our property, but not so much close to the house. I would love a nice big level yard all around our home. That sounds nice to me. =D

    1. Grass is one thing that doesn't seem to have a problem growing here in spite of all of the trees. I hope that you'll get your dream house some day, and soon. :)

  4. I'm not into cosmetics either. And it's an allergy issue. Well, that and the fact that I'm just not a cosmetic kind of gal. LOL We made three raised beds for growing veggies but we have the same tree issue to be able to have any more.

    1. Make-up can be just too much trouble to deal with, can't it? :)

What did/do you have growing in your raised beds?

  5. I like that you like trees so much. I love trees and would be lost without them.
I used to be so much more into makeup. I wonder what happened.
I hope you have a lovely day

    1. Thank you. I think that trees are great. The last place that we lived didn't have any trees at all until the kids went into the woods and brought home a pine tree sapling. They planted it near the old well house and it didn't take very long for it to get pretty tall. But the rest of the yard was empty of trees. I was able to grow irises there, though, and I loved that.

Regarding makeup, maybe our priorities have changes and it just isn't worth the headache anymore. :)

  6. Interesting that so few of us are good at painting those rooms. Me neither. I'd rather just look at the paint chips :)

    1. The paint chips don't have a smell as strong as the paint itself, that's for sure. :)
