Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 29: #21

Please come on over to join us on Patrice's porch and don't forget to bring a carrot or two for Wendell!

QUESTIONS

1.Stephanie asks, "What kind of competitions do you prefer to watch? Dancing, singing, or cooking?

I like to watch the ice skating competitions. I've always wished that I could ice skate, but have never been brave enough to try.

2.My Kid's Mom asks, "Do you work? Are you retired? Are you a stay at home mom?

My husband and I have our own business. We are retail consultants and merchandisers. We are always on call but can generally set our own schedule.

3.Empty Nester asks, "What's your favorite thing about winter?

I would have to say the cold weather, but I'll have to move further north to actually experience winter again.

4.Homeschool on the Croft asks, "What do you love most about where you live?"

It has a roof on it and air conditioning. :) There are some nice people in this area, too.

5.Did you or your children(grandchildren too) ever have a dollhouse?

I didn't have one as a little girl, but we got one for me on our honeymoon. Unfortunately, our storage building was burglarized and everything in it was taken, including the doll house.

6.Wendell asks, "If horses have blankets, why don't they get a pillow too?"

I don't have a clue! Don't horses sleep standing up?

  2. Hi there, Suz! I'm stopping by from Chats on the Farmhouse Porch... usually I join the chat from my other blog and you are always so good about commenting! But, the questions this week didn't lend themselves to 'Dad' talking (http://drivingmydad.blogspot.com) so I decided to chat just as me!
Hubby and I used to enjoy watching figure skating competitions, too. They just don't seem to show them as much ... or perhaps with all the channel options we get with cable, we just don't find the right channels!
I hope you have a great week!

    1. Hi there! Thanks so much for stopping by here and commenting. I appreciate the support very much. I enjoy reading your "Dad" posts. :)

We haven't seen any figure skating shows in a long time either; who knows where they're hiding them these days. There are a zillion channels out there, that's for sure.

I hope that you have a great week, too!

  3. I like to watch the ice skating competition, too. Oddly enough, it's the ice dancing that I like. But dancing off the ice isn't so interesting. Maybe because I know I'll never ever be able to dance on ice. Couldn't even stay on my feet probably.

    1. I can't dance either way, on the ice or off. haha

Maybe you'd do better at it than you think.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I hope that you have a great evening. :)

  4. Ice skating competitions are one of my favorite winter sports to watch, too. I, especially like watching figure skating pairs dance on the ice. What is a retail consultant and merchandiser? You have me curious now. =D

    1. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Cathy.

As a merchandiser, we set up displays in stores for various companies. As consultants, we go into stores, study the patterns and what they are doing right and wrong. We try to encourage them to continue and improve their good practices and try to discourage the practices that are harming their businesses. Sometimes this involves merchandising, accounting, and sometimes it involves helping them to get in compliance with federal and state regulations. Sometimes it involves family counseling.

David says to tell you to picture a redneck version of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and that is pretty much what we deal with in our business (though on a retail, not food service, level.)

      Have a great evening!
