Chats on the Farmhouse Porch 17: #10

Please head on over to Everyday Ruralty to join in the fun!

This week's questions:

Where would you take the blogger group for a chat, if they came to your house?

If it were a cool day and my backyard were the way that I envision it to be someday, we'd head out back and chat up a storm.

How do you handle "toxic people"? They're the ones that are very difficult to be around and generally don't bring out the best in us.

I don't know that I know any toxic people. I guess I would spend as little time with them as possible and do my best to be polite when I am forced to interact with them. That's not what Jesus would do, though. He would love them through it and that is how I should try to live, too.

In high school, were you the athlete, the cheerleader (actual or just your personality), the geek, the social butterfly, or lost?

I was one of the nobodies, so I guess "lost". I was far too introverted to be a cheerleader or social butterfly and, though I was not stupid, I was not brainy enough to be a geek. I was just little ol' invisible me.

What's your favorite thing made from apples?

I love apple pie and candied apples, but I cannot eat candied apples anymore.

Do you do most of your shopping in stores or online?

Unfortunately, in stores. I would much rather avoid stores completely. Being able to shop online is perfect for someone like me, but we can't afford to buy groceries like that. The shipping costs alone would wreck the budget.

  2. I prefer online shopping because of the other shoppers. They get on my last nerve. I can't eat candied apples anymore either but I used to love them!

  3. It seems we have a bunch of people who like apple pie this week. Now those apples on the kitchen counter are calling out to me! I agree with you about how Jesus tells us we should treat others. I wish it was always that easy. After numerous attempts, I've found that it's best for me to avoid a few select people who really bring me down. The term "toxic people" is from a book. I know I have been working on being more patient with people who can be a bit hard to deal with, but there are a couple of folks who leave you wounded.

I hope you have a very good week. I'm so happy that you keep visiting on my porch!

  5. Do you still feel invisible? I saw kids like that and never really thought about much, but you know how kids are "brain dead". My heart aches for the way you felt. I think if I had a chance to do things over, as I mentioned in my post, I surely would make the most of every moment not only for my life but for others, too. Can you imagine the improvements you can make, if you are armed with what you know now & take back in time with you? Have a nice Thanksgiving!

  6. I confess that I do love to shop. Not buy - just shop. Online is just not the same.

I've only eaten one candy apple - back when I was a kid and I couldn't finish it. Somehow, the candy and the tart apple didn't work for my taste buds.

I prefer online shopping for the same reason. Especially during the holidays, people can get really impatient and nasty with other customers. The same goes for the workers. It is just easier all the way around online.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. Have a great weekend!

  10. @Patrice

Hi Patrice, thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. Yes, it seems that apple pie is pretty popular...a classic. :)

I agree. There are people that can leave you really wounded and sometimes it seems an impossible dream that you could ever get over the hurt they've caused.

I hope that you have a great weekend. I love visiting on your porch. :)

Hi Cathy, thanks for stopping by and commenting.

In some ways, yes, I still feel invisible. In other ways, I wish I could actually be invisible now.

My husband and I talk about this often. There are so many things that we could and would do differently if we could just go back knowing what we know now.

I hope that you have a nice Thanksgiving, too, and a wonderful weekend. :)

  13. @Stephanie V

Hi Stephanie, thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I used to love to shop, too, and did every chance I got. I guess I'm just too old and tired to enjoy it anymore. That 20 years between ages 26 and 46 feels like a hundred these days. :)

I'm sorry that the candy apples didn't work for your taste buds. What kinds of treats do you like this time of year?

    Have a great weekend!
