Five Minute Friday: Joy

Five minutes, that's all. Five minutes of writing, unencumbered; no worries, just words. Come on...you can do it!

===

What brings you joy? There are so many moments in our lives that qualify as joyous.

That first moment of looking into his eyes and realizing he is the ONE and making that walk down the aisle into his arms to spend the rest of your life with him, that's joy (and maybe a bit of fear, too!).

The pink line on the test, the doctor's confirmation, "it's time", the first smile, first giggle, first steps, first words...all of those bring joy.

Joy also makes an appearance, sometimes with subtlety and sometimes with ear-to-ear grins, on the faces of grandparents when you present them with that first grandchild.

Mortar-board caps, flowing gowns, tassel-switching and diploma after years of schooling and hope of what the future will bring, brings both joy and mistiness to mama-hearts (and don't say that I told you, but to daddy-hearts, too. Shh!)

There's joy in the beginning and joy at the end, looking back at all the moments, realizing how full your life has been and it only gets better from here.

Share your joys with me in the comments section. I would love to know what puts that smile on your heart!

  1. Great compilation of joyous occasions. I never had the thrill of seeing the pink line on the test but the birth of my children and my grandchildren were definitely joyful moments for me. Photography also brings me a lot of joy.

  2. My joy? Sara right now. Just reading about her life, and knowing how much it's meant to me. I first found Sara's blog in March of 2010. She has been such a positive influence on my life since that time. Just having had the privilege to have known her virtually is a joy in itself.

    Beautiful post!

  3. Great examples. That first one really brought a smile to my face. I am still in the second, and looking forward to the rest. I find my joy in small doses throughout my days.

    Thanks, Andrea!

I am looking forward to being a grandma someday and enjoy photography, too. You are so blessed to be a grandma. :)

Shari, thank you so much for commenting.

Sara's story is such a sad and happy one all rolled up together. It breaks my heart that she's been through so much pain, that she's leaving this earth and her family...but happy to know that she will no longer have pain. She will be healed completely and will forever be in the hearts of her family and friends.

In the midst of the tears and the missing, I pray that our Father continues to bless you. Have a joyful day!

    Hi Katrina!

Enjoy the second...it is over far too quickly, though maybe it doesn't always feel that way while sleep-deprived. :)

Thank you so much for commenting. Have a wonderful day!
