Anniversaries That Should Have Been

13 September 1984...That should have been our wedding day. It was the day that we had broken up early on in our relationship. I saw having it as our wedding day as a healing of the rift, like we'd kept on going, never breaking apart.

But, it wasn't to be that way.

Football Saturdays and those with the money were in control and a date that meant nothing to our relationship came to be the day that marked the first day of the rest of our lives together.

13 September 2004...This day was another milestone in our lives together, twenty years after we should have been married. We left years of history behind us, family that we'd never see again this side of Heaven, and the only lives that either of us had ever really known and moved a thousand miles away.

What will 13 September 2024 have in store for us, forty years after we should have been married? I look forward to finding out.

Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be,
The last of life, for which the first was made:
Our times are in His hand...
Robert Browning, (1812-1889)
