One of this week's prompts from Writer's Workshop is:
"Write a poem inspired by the word “Loss”."
This is one that I wrote several years ago.
Precious angel sent to earth,
Did they tell you of your worth?
More than diamonds, rubies or gold,
Only you do I want to hold.
So perfect your beauty as I look into your eyes
That gentle reflection of angels in the skies.
Each day you grew inside me, so big and so strong,
But your time here with me was not to be long.
Oh how my heart aches as I have to say goodbye,
As I let you go back to play in the sky.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that it is difficult. I know that you never forget. But I also know that He doesn't either. I know that you will cherish your memories.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain...as you saw from my blog, I'm also a "collector" of cemetery statuary. Love your little angel, too!
ReplyDeleteI read that and my breath caught in my lungs. I lost 2 babies back in '09- one of which was too big to do a D&C so I had to deliver him. You never forget your babies- ever. Beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Mama Kat's Workshop. Stop by anytime- you might like my entry titled 'I miss you'. I think it'll hit home, maybe.
