Book Burning

What would you do if you happened upon a book burning?

I like fire as much as the next person, maybe more than the next person. But, I love books. I think that my heart would stop. After it started beating again, I think that I would ask what books they were burning and why.

Obviously, if they were burning the Bible, I would try to get them to stop. I couldn't just stand there without saying something or trying to save as many of the Bibles as I could.

There are other books that maybe deserve to be burned. They are vile, vulgar, just downright disgusting and evil in the things they contain. They do not promote well-being, physically or mentally. They just promote the bad and encourage a further degradation of society.

Overall, though, I think that the majority of books deserve to stay out of the fire pit. They uplift us, they make us smile, they change the course of our lives. They take us to places that we'll never physically be able to go and teach us new things. They help us to be more than we could be without them.

Books are great!

What was the last book that you read that made you smile?
