Day Sixty: True Love Travels

“True love travels on a gravel road.” (Elvis, 17 Feb 1969)
Hear the song here.

This song says so much in just a few words. The hard times make their love deeper, truer. It grows stronger over time because of the hard times that they fight their way through.

My husband and I are stubborn, hard-headed people at times. We’ve brought much grief to each other over the years, but the bottom line is that we love each other. I am not willing to give him up at the first sign of trouble and the same is true of him. No matter how difficult things have been along the way, I cannot make myself not love him and no matter how much I have frustrated him, he hangs in there.

For nearly thirty years we have been one a part of the other and I do not see that changing, no matter the battles satan throws our way. Our Heavenly Father has given us the strength and enough love to make it over these rough, gravel roads in our lives. This time is no different.

There is no one that I would rather travel with over these roads.

60. I am thankful for a husband that is as stubborn as I am and for the last thirty years. I am not quite ready to be thankful for the hurts we have given each other, but I am thankful for a love strong enough to endure them and carry on.
