Day Forty-Five: Peaceful, Easy Feeling

Today, I lay in the grass and got chewed up by lots of no-see-ums. It was great! I was in a field of Bluebonnets at an historic site called The Varner-Hogg Plantation.

This is the second time that we have visited the Plantation and this time I remembered to bring a backup battery for the camera. I came back home with over 225 new images to play with, most of them being of the state flower, the Bluebonnet.

I love history and old family stories. This place has both. I also love flowers, touching them, smelling them, and even trying to photograph them while they’re dancing in the wind and these were dancing all over the place. And the trees! There were rows and rows of pecan trees and other trees filled with Spanish moss. It was breathtaking.

My husband and I sat on the patio just taking in all of the beauty and the calmness around us. With the exception of two maintenance workers and the lady in the office, we had the place to ourselves until right at the very end of our stay. Then, another photographer couple came to tango with the dancing bluebonnets.

I felt so blessed to be able to spend this time with my husband in such a peaceful, beautiful place. It is things like this that also open up a beautiful, peaceful place in my heart. I wish that all days could be spent like this.

What in your life brings that peaceful easy feeling into your heart?

45. I am thankful for quiet moments spent with the man that I love overlooking the beauty that Heavenly Father has created in the form of trees and flowers and winding river beds. I am thankful for the hope of brighter days ahead as we find more ways to reconnect as a couple.
